Weather Related Issues

It is up to parent/guardian discretion if a child plays or practices in the event of weather related issues, including but not limited to high heat index.  Commissioners decide and will notify coaches if games are cancelled due to inclement weather.

Welcome to the 2024 Yankton Sertoma Baseball Registration!

This registration session will allow you to complete contact information, sign up for participation, and submit payment.

 

Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately.

New for 2024 - Division Definitions

T-Ball (Ages 5-6): Players are introduced to the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and low-pressure atmosphere.  T-ball typically has one practice per week and one game per week.

 

            -Minors: No prior experience.

 

-Majors: 1+ years of T-ball experience.  Player is familiar with the rules-of-play.  Player is able to make semi-accurate throws and consistently hit ball from tee.

 

Coach Pitch (Ages 7-8): Players continue to build on the skills learned in T-ball.  Transition from hitting ball off a tee to hitting a pitched ball thrown in a lob style.  Coaches will pitch to batters during games with an option of hitting from tee to ensure ball is put in play each at bat.  Coach pitch typically has one practice per week and one game per week. 

 

-Minors: 1+ years of T-ball or no prior experience.  Player learns basic skills of batting stance and grip, throwing motion, catching, and fielding stance.

 

-Majors: 1+ years of coach pitch.  Player has the ability to hit a baseball pitched in lobbed style and the ability to catch and throw a lobbed ball.  Player has knowledge of all field positions and base locations.

 

10U Kid Pitch (Ages 9-10-11): Player has the ability to hit a baseball pitched on a flat line (not lobbed), the ability to catch and throw a ball on a flat line, and knowledge of all field positions and base locations.  Player not hesitant to catch a baseball or to have a ball pitched at them. 10U typically has one practice followed by one game on Monday nights. Games are umpired by members of YBA program. 

 

-Minors:  Modified Kid Pitch. Player will pitch to batter with some modifications.  Coaches will pitch if the original at bat results in 4 balls.  The coach continues the at-bat until the ball is put into play or batter strikes out, no walks. 

 

-Majors:  More competitive and follows rules of little league baseball.  Recommended for players demonstrating strong skill in throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, batting and base running. Player understands appropriate actions in game situations, such as when and where to make put-outs, how to steal bases, how to tag-up on fly balls, and how to execute cut-offs.

 

***Parents of 9- and 10-year-olds with little experience and who don't meet the developmental guidelines for 10U Minors or Majors may request their children play in Coach Pitch***

 

12U Kid Pitch (Ages 11-12):  12U kid pitch is the most competitive division and follows rules of little league baseball.  Games are umpired by members of YBA program.  12U typically has one practice followed by one game on Thursday nights. 

 

-Minors: Player has the ability to hit a baseball pitched on a flat line (not lobbed), the ability to catch and throw a ball on a flat line, and knowledge of all field positions and base locations.  Player not hesitant to catch a baseball or to have a ball pitched at them. 

 

-Majors: Player has command of the basic skills of baseball including fielding, catching, throwing, batting and base running.  Player understands appropriate actions in game situations, such as when and where to make put-outs, how to steal bases, how to tag-up on fly balls, and how to execute cut-offs. 

 

***Parents of 11-year-olds with little experience and who don't meet the developmental guidelines for 12U Kid Pitch may request their children play in 10U Minors (Modified Kid Pitch)***
